Our organization proposes to establish a physical gallery that comprises two art collections: a permanent collection of artworks and objects that once belonged to the artist and writer Henry Darger, and a lending collection of objects that visitors may borrow to create their own faux- replica “Henry Darger room” installations.
This website reports on the provenance and contents of these art collections, important issues and approaches to dealing with the collection, its use, exhibition, and preservation. The goal of our organization is to remember and commemorate Henry Darger. As an outsider artist, Henry Darger did not exhibit or sell his art, yet he was still devoted to creating. Our collection serves to inform others of alternatives to the commercial Global-Art World, and as
such we hope that our collection will inspire others to embrace their own artistic impulses.
